Allison Sterling, from Dire Grove returns as a journalist and is helping you investigate why an entire town of people are getting sick and aging very rapidly. Your goal is to find out why this is happening, who is causing it, and to save the town.

Plot

In 1916, during a war called the Battle of Somme, a soldier is shot in the chest and finds himself face-to-face with Ankou, the goddess of death. The soldier rips off one of Ankou's quills, forcing the goddess to retreat. The quill suddenly heals the soldier's wounds.

In the present, Allison Sterling, a journalist the Master Detective first met in Dire Grove, is investigating a strange phenomenon in the town of Dreadmond, which is causing people to get sick and age rapidly, and the Master Detective is sent there by the Queen of England.

After seeing a young boy in a raincoat close the door to a nearby ambulance, the detective finds Alison trapped inside. She manages to free her before the ambulance falls over the edge. They pay a visit to Maggie Sharpe, Allison's childhood friend, but she doesn't recognize them due to being affected by the phenomenon and is now an old woman. The detective jogs her memory with a graduation photo of her and Allison. After learning she attempted to contact a resident named Richard Galloway, the detective goes there to talk to him.

Upon witnessing the boy from earlier break into Richard's mansion, the detective heads in and meets Richard, who reveals he had created a device near the statue in the town square that can counter the phenomenon, but a part of the device is stolen by the boy, who is Maggie's son, Henry. After recovering the part, the detective finds a quill (the same one from the beginning) inside the device before activating it. The device causes the statue to change into a more sinister appearance before a long vine extends from the statue into Richard's mansion as the ground around it turns ominous red, causing Allison to age. The detective wasn't affected because she was protected by the quill. Realizing that Richard is responsible for the phenomenon and tricked the detective into helping him, she heads to a graveyard on the other side of the mansion just in time to see Richard thanking her for helping him before heading into a crypt.

After investigating with Allison, the detective catches up to Richard inside his hideout, who reveals he had captured Allison and imprisoned her in a water tank on a distant island. He explains his encounter with Ankou, revealing he was the war soldier from the intro, and he plans to use Ankou to gain immortality. Richard then leaves the detective to rescue Allison. She has brief encounters with Henry before finally reaching the island, where Henry is trapped in a tank alongside Allison.

After rescuing them, the detective follows Richard deeper into his hideout, which contains a tower. Upon reaching the top of the tower where Ankou is being held captive, Richard stabs the detective and takes the quill. After brief experiences of Dire Grave and Ravenhearst Manor, Ankou revives the detective by giving her one of her quills, allowing her to destroy the machine that's keeping Ankou imprisoned in the tower. Richard angrily smashes the quill and curses the detective before he is engulfed in dark smoke by Ankou. While watching the sunrise with Henry and Allison, Henry reveals his desires to be a Master Detective too.

In the Bonus Content, which takes place before the main game, Richard is traveling to Dreadmond sometime after acquiring the quill from Ankou. While attempting to figure out the quill's origins, he is knocked out and the quill is stolen from him. After escaping, he finds himself hearing a malevolent voice inside his head. He recovers the quill and finds a man imprisoned in a cabinet. Instead of freeing him, he is tempted by the voice into killing him, thus, beginning his mad quest for immortality.
